Zane, whatever it is you're doing - keep doing it
Ha...thanks James
Although I am a slow learner, I do enjoy learning new techniques - remember last time you told me about pixel interpolation...it was new and very interesting to me
No... not working at the Rally of Canberra anymore (could have been a nice 2 free nights in Canberra too).. Sat I am out, Monday lunchtime I am out too. Sunday is my best day though who knows what may happen then. Night tours again?

hi rwwlee, I really like you night shots of perth how long was the exposure? the clouds look like they are really moving, especially the first.
Quick question is the image a little to dark or is it the LCD monitor at work . The imaged looked ok at home on my crt.
The bell tower shots were f/8 30s iso100. The city shot was f/9 13s.
I can never get the brightness of a photo correct, it depends on the orientation of the laptop lcd, i need to work out a way to make the photos look consistent in brightness.
Nice Perth photos. The first one has really nice exposure and I love those moving cloud (20s??)
Second one's a bit dark, but very strong composition, it would be nicer with a bit more articial lighting on the structure or if you shoot it earlier in that evening...well I like the compo, the articifial light from the second floor windows adds to the composition too
Third one has nice exposure also, but do you think it's not quite level, all the buildings are leaning to the left...or is it just me.
It's good to finish a nice sunset at 7pm, then head off to dinner. 6pm is a bit early like now, 8pm is a little late......Show more →
Thank you all for the comments. Back in sydney, perth wasn't that much fun. I do all my long exposure in manual mode now, and generally underexposing it by 1/3 of a stop gives a good result. Although the night shots i had from hk didn't quite work out, maybe because it was too foggy and dusty?!?
Yeah you're right, the 3rd photo wasn't level, too lazy to rotate it! :P

Yes it was... got quite scared going up some of them roads. I only got 110km left in the tank and no intensions of filling it up.
Is there any other events coming up soon? actually I'm sick of seeing flash bulbs right now. Chris Atkinson (the WRC driver) I think is in the next room getting his photo shoot. Marketing dept don't know who else is a photog here.
No.. unfortunately I got plans over the long weekend so I can't work down there. Just got to fix my car on the Saturday whilst I got a workshop booked where I can work in.
I found the source of my flashing problems at work.. it's a lady with a 10D and 16-35 and 550EX taking pics of Chris Atkinson playing WRC4 on this machine (quite crap to use that old steering wheel). *yawn*. Maybe I should have brought my camera to work and get some pics.
oh...i thought it's a setup of a larger scale. What I had in mind was that it was the world rally driver with a real rally WRX set up in a studio with some fake dirt road + studio light x2 + a male photographer + male assistant ::

I was in HK for 2 weeks in Nov 04. I had 14 out of 14 polluted sky while I was there. Night photography of the usual HK's beautiful skyline is virtually impossible - is it better from the Peak?

Any photos of your China trip?
I'm still processing those raw files from my trip. (i really need the raw+jpg option!) Will post some HK shots from the peak later for comment. It was pretty foggy the night i went.
Thanks Richard. I will post some of my shots of HK nite scene later also...for mine, it wasn't the fog, it was the pollution (dont tell me it's bushfire, HK doesnt have any bushes)
I haven't used the 70-200 properly at all, i didn't have a strong enough tripod to hold on to the thing while i was in hk. But it's one hell of a heavy beast, my shoulders were hurting after carrying it for half a day!
