The Genius Of Photography
Documents For Artists
8.31pm – 9.30pm ABC2
Sunday 10 February 2008
The Genius Of Photography is a landmark series exploring the key events and images that have marked the development of photography - it chronicles the journey from camera obscura to the digital image. At the heart of the series is a quest to understand what makes a truly great photograph. This is a new six-part series screening on ABC2. Following the First World War, photography was the central medium of the age. It became a means of expressing order and a medium for propaganda. "Anyone who fails to understand photography", said the photographer Lazlo Moholy-Nagy "will be one of the illiterates of the future." Episode two Documents For Artists, examines in detail the work of some of the greatest and most influential modern photographers: Alexander Rodchenko, August Sander, Man Ray, Walker Evans and Bill Brandt; and includes contributions from Martin Parr, Bernd and Hilla Becher, and Mark Haworth-Booth.
And now you can go away for 3 weeks and it grows by 1/2 a page. Also if my memory serves me right there were more more posts to a page back then bit like now hence the change from 700 pages a few weeks ago to the current 225 odd
Whats happening out there is everyone asleep or just too busy taking photos.
I like the new changes to the FM web site makes for easier browsing of older pages this quote is from page 44 way back when. Anyway here is one of mine playing with the 70-200 and 20mm of extn tubes
not asleep just way too busy with other projects, too busy even to take photos at the moment. I still have shots to look at from the V8s' in Bahrain in November 2007, without even thinking about the usual Christmas rush of Photos. Still the band I am sound engineering for has a Gig on the 28th of this month and it should be a good trial for my 300 F4 from the sound desk
No not forgotten just otherwise engaged. I am sound engineering/photographing/videoing/ and engineering the lighting for a new Expat band here. First Gig on the 28th so we've all been flat out. Oh yeah and my regular job, unfortunately gets in the way. Band myspace is www.myspace.com/hed2ground if anyone is interested. Most of the shots on the page are my efforts with some others from a work collegue.
Hi there team,
Am new to FM and only just found this thread so firstly a small intro:
I am beginner from Bathurst. I have only been into this for the last year or so. I love nature/landscapes but am really enjoying sport etc lately. I shoot a Nikon D50, with sigma 100-300mm f4, 18-135mm and the 50mm 1.8.
Chris I love your V8 pics but especially number 2. A very interesting angle. The rest a pin sharp, well done.
