Wow, no new posts here in 3 days! Are people really busy or what?
Anyway, does anyone here know of a decent place in Sydney with a wide range of tripod legs/heads that I can take at look at? I'm heading back to HK in a few months time and looking to pick up some gear while I'm there. I've tried a number of shops on George St, but they don't seem to stock much...
I'm just wondering if anyone wanted to do some overnight photograpy. I'd like to go the blue mountains to some night shots. Including: night sky at over an hour exposure time. The BM is pretty far out of the City, so the stars come out pretty well.
I'm also considering to have a walk around with a torch in the forest, while the area is being photographed from a nearby cliff. Wenthworth falls and Katoomba offers some amazing cliff walks, which is also fun walking it with a torch.
Of course these shots need a partner, and it's not too safe and pretty boring to stay out there alone.
I'm wondering if someone might be interested and ready to do some fun photography. One person can operate the camera(s) while the another walks around, with coloured lights, torches etc.
If you are a night Owl, ready to do something that few do then give me a buzz

That first shot is sensational!!!!
Hi Smelly thanks for the comment this must have been my 20th odd trip into the city since having a camera and the light was just perfect sometimes I just turn around and head home flat dull grey skies and all. Today though clear clear skies after a southerly all day late afternoon light coming through the clouds what more can you ask for. The northern side had rain squalls moving across for the entire time we were up there even the opera house was in rain while taking the pano.

Superb capture Hydrotoast! I'm also planning to do just this. I wonder is it worth to include the Anzac Bridge into the far right end of the panomara. Or you can't see much of it from the lookout?
Actually i'm going to make a wi(l)der one: from Kirribilli to the Anzac bridge.
Is the tripod useful up there? There is a tall security glass wall around the lookout, maybe the tripod couldn't reach above it.
Just back from 5 weeks away back in Aust.. Stopped off in Hong Kong and gave the credit card a flogging and brought my first L Lense a 24 - 70 F 2.8 and have fallen in love with it. Now all I have to do is learn how to use it. Will post photos when I edit some from the Horrordays.
hey there i m from india and palnning to move in australia very soon still i m confuse regarding professional aspects over there so please help me to .
I thought your old site was pretty good as well, your new one looks very slick. A question regarding your 70 - 200, Is it the non IS model and was there a reason you went for the non IS over the IS one? Apart from the cash factor ?
I had a feeling the Non IS was sharper but I am wondering how much as I am thinking of using it for Motorsport and backing it up with t a 300 F4 L as well. Wondering if the IS or Non IS would be better for sport.
