Need horizon etc... I'll try again tonight. You should be able to see from your place if it's the right direction. Just look maybe 5 degrees left of where the sun sets and you should be able to see it with even your eyes.
I admire all you hard working people, while u guys are checking out the comet, i'm just lazing around at home...
My 300D is completely dead after about 2 years of use with only 15K clicks. The thing won't turn on at all now, so i suspect it's some electrical issue rather than a dead shutter. Not sure whether it's worth even getting canon to have a look at it. I was initially planning to sell it on ebay and will probably get about A$300-350. Do you guys think it's worth trying to fix it and then sell it??
Hope the 5D replacement comes out before May (before i go to the States)!
Good work Smelly, seems like you are the only hardworking photographer here. I went to Opera house to see the comet last Tue night - well, didn't really see a thing...
Richard: with your 300D - why don't you get a quote first
Australia Day, I will be going down to Canberra then South Coast for the long weekend...
Actually, from pics I saw of Melbourne.. but of course outside the city limits, the comet trail is actually very very long.... so on the other side of the Blue Mountains would be the best place to see the comet... of course that's a little far.
I was in Katoomba during last week and it was really hard to see the comet at all due to a lot of smoke from bushfires in the Dubbo area. Essentially, all I could make out was just a dot that was the head of the comet, and the tail was not visible at all.
