It's has ben a while since i've shot anything other than sport so i went to cronulla this morning for a few shot's....... i couldn't believe people where swimming..... any way here goes......
I took some photos with my new macro lens this week. All are as shot. Just the usuall RAW conversion + sharpening in photoshop. Larger versions can be seen by clicking on the photos. The colours were from using filters on my flash.
I like the B&W of the guy in the pool Michael . NIce shot .
Teon they look cool . I love the first one . The last one doesn't quite work for me but hey thats just my .0002 cents .
BTW anyone interested in a 1.4 teleconvertor Canon mkII . Only used twice . I bought it on an impulse . It isn't for me . Fooled myself thinking the extra grab was going to give me the reach i was deluding myself into believing i'd get .
Well I have been working my backside off the past few weeks and have decided to bite the bullet and get some studio flash gear...
Can anyone reccomend anything? Im looking to spend around $4k AUS
I have been looking at the Elincrom digital 600RX 2 head kit... and then saving for a 3rd light.
Im going to be shooting people and product the most...
Chris.
PS: Robbed of the win is a understatement! dont get me started!
I've had more to do with broncolor gear than elinchrom - but the elinchrom gear is indeed good quality. The Bron minicom monolights are just as good as their pack & head systems, but if memory serves the mobile broncolor kits are more expensive than the elinchrom kind.
In the absense of being able to make a significant investment in lights, I bought a very shoddy, slow and cheap strobe kit for day to day use, and rent Broncolo gear when I need it.
Other things to consider are light modifiers, and a light meter is a must. L-358 is just dandy and is the cheapest one that can take a PW transmitter I could buy 1 broncolor softbox for the price of my strobe + a matching 120x80 - and side by side it really shows . If you find a good source of rosco gels in Sydney let me know! If you are creative with black cardstock you can save on snoots and grids.
If you have the spare money, get an Avenger Mini-boom as well - the main advantage they are transportable. Most standard boom stands can't fold small enough to fit in the back of a sedan.
