This guy just had a really nice sequence painted over with brown by the council before I got a chance to take a snap of it. This is over the same area.
The World Press photo exibition is coming up in a few days time at the State library . Always well worth a look FREE at the State Library of NSW, from 4 May to 28 May 2006.
Did anyone find the PICA show a little dissapointing? I really wasn't all that impressed with it all... and then I got to the end of the show and was listening to this guy from some association & commercial photographers babble about how they are unfairly treated etc and them protecting themselves because the National Parks and Wildlife Services were restricting use for filming/photographing ... basically a dummy spit on why the world is so unfair... I just remember thinking, "man, build a bridge"... I mean I thought the association was going to open doors to be a member and I was going to ask about what it would cost etc until I heard that. Maybe it was a little too political for me... *shrug*
Canon was packed out.. the long lenses whilst nice, really at the end of the day didn't do much for me apart from wowing.. and then walking away crying that I can't buy a 1D2N right now now by the CFO. The rest were really consumer based products like video cameras etc..
Tony: Yeah I saw that in the paper yesterday, should be good. I know im keen.
SmellyTofu: It wasnt too bad... but was nothing too special.
One thing that did catch my intrest was the Dragon Image stand.. they had some background stand kits that I liked (were only $180.00aud) I think i will go check out their Artarmon store.
The Canon stand was a pain.. I was one of the first few through the door and it was a strugggle to go check out their stuff.
yeah there are heaps of people with a big bag... they are probably expecting a lot of freebies well these photographers may like to use their camera bag to carry their grocery shopping also...

Any idea who that's suppossed to be depicted in that stencil James ? Just curious as it looks familiar . I'm guessing the area is around Newtown ?
Bob Marley?

And here's another one ... why do people feel compelled to bring their camera gear there?? I mean like full one stuff.. not the usual tiny bag thing??
Photographers version of ***BLING BLING ***

Yeah, I think it is Marley but not sure. If I catch him at it I'd love to chat.
Tony:
I'm not quite cool enough for Newtown - need some dreadlocks ;-) I live in Jannali, this graph is on the bridge over the train station.
I guess i presumed Newtown due to that huge mural near the railway station where Mc Donalds used to be , and there's a ton of graffitti both good and crap all round the place there .
