Free Admission for All Who Pre-Register at Australian Imaging Show
The Australian imaging industry is gearing up to unveil its latest at the international Photo Imaging World exhibition to be held April 28th-30th 2006 at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Visitors to the show will find over 100 major photo and digital companies from Australia and overseas showcasing the cutting-edge developments and trends in imaging technology, software and output printing systems.
Organised by the Photo Imaging Council of Australia (PICA), the show has over 15,000 square metres of exhibition space plus a major display of photography. All major camera brands are represented, including Canon, Casio, Contax, Elmo, Epson, Fuji, Hewlett Packard, Hasselblad, Kodak, Leica, Mamiya, Minox, Nokia, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic, Lumix, Pentax, Polaroid, Ricoh, Rollei, Samsung, Sony, Yashica and Zeiss.
The Executive Director of the Photo Imaging Council of Australia, Paul Curtis, said, "The show is set to continue the steady growth we have seen at these events over the last few years. 17,000 attended last year's event in Brisbane and we expect a similar number in Sydney. Sydney is a very popular destination with both overseas visitors and Australians."
A special purpose build theatre on the exhibition floor will host the annual quest to find the Professional Photographer of the Year and the selection of the Australian Professional Photography Awards. The judging process will be done in open forum, so that anyone may come along and watch the process
Held concurrently with the show will be a series of conferences for professional photographers, digital image-makers and photo retailers. The photo retailers' conference program is organised by the Australian division of the Photo Marketing Association
Admission is free for all trade, business and professional visitors, but the organisers encourage all to avoid registration queues by registering on the website seven days in advance. Amateur enthusiasts will also be admitted free on the Saturday and Sunday as long as they pre-register on the website. Otherwise, a $12 admission fee can be paid at the door.
PICA Manager Eve Phillips said that the $12 admission charge would do much to smooth the flow for business visitors.
