Ed.. does the 24-105 vignette and distort on your 1.3x camera at 24mm? i think it's pretty acceptable on a 1.6x camera, hence i'm thinking of getting it.

Zane, i do want a 2nd body, but i'm waiting for the 20D replacement, which should still be a 1.6x.

Richard 85 1.8 is not in stock at the moment

Richard, you may like to pay $1650 for the 24-70L above rather than $1800 for a 24-105L

24-105 is designed for FF, so i guess it vignettes and distorts the way it should be

You would be able to get a good sunset with the heart though. I might go again if i have time and get a different perspective. Where are you going to find some lovers to be in the foreground

Zane, I was thinking if you were going to sell the black, u might as well sell the silver one too and I pick up the black. I use the 10D and 350D half half... Generally I carry them both and use whatever I feel or pick up first.

8mm.. well, it is suppose to distort.. .. otherwise Tokina might as well call it a 12-24mm fisheye.. vignetting is fine for me but distortion isn't.

rwwlee, I think I'd be everywhere... there's a few spots I've been to years ago but haven't been back since that I want to revisit.

The distortion is just the nature of the wide angle lens IMO
I love it!!
I love vignetting too....hahha

btw, i was going to get a Peleng 8mm 3.5 fishy in HK, but the russian guy told me that this lens is no longer in production...

They have just brought out a new one though with an ef mount no adaptor required

Oh, Wakefield tomorrow for me so if anyone wants to rock down, let me know... I'm not sure if I should get on the track or not though. Saturday open day generally is packed with a lot of people and you generally don't get a good go on the track to make it worthwhile.

Dont think i will get one at this stage, thanks for the link Chris!

The Tokina 12-24 has pretty good reviews, some said it's better than the Nikkor 12-24

Smelly what brand of 8mm is yours I have been toying with the idea for some time.
Has anyone actually used one of the ones from Kiev Peleng what difference is there between a cheapy and a better one for a lens that has so much distortion.

I have tried a 15mm fisheye for skateboarding but the 1:6 takes away most of the effect.
In my post of the skateboarding on page 289 the first is with the fish the second is Tokina at 12mm

8mm f4 Sigma. It only produces an image circle for a 1.6 FOV so on a FF, it'd be a small circle unless you crop it down. Also depending on the aperture, the image circle changes slightly. At f4, it's at its maximum and then gets smaller.

Chris, I haven't used the Peleng 8mm, but I am very happy with the Zenitar 16 2.8 fishy i have. I paid less than $200 for it

Zane thanks for the link I like what I see, will have to juggle it into my already overflowing wish list .
You must be selling more canon gear than some of the retailers. Heard that Fletchers in Pitt St closed down is this so I have not been in the city proper for a few months.

Last time I went there was just before Christmas. I wouldn't be too surprised if they're shut down, though. Fletchers have some of the most unhelpful staff out of all the big camera stores in town.

Actually, you get a pretty amazing difference in service levels when you go there with a 1D and when you don't. The same thing happened when I went to G&V.

I think everyone needs a 1D.

One of the PICA newsletter back in Nov says that Fletchers on Pitt St has receiver appointed. I don't know whether they are still in business now.

They closed their industrial section some time ago

It's much better.. still, the luggage straps still haven't been able to hold the arm steady enough for 1/2 sec shot on a smooth road.

The heart beat was going but the weather was not playing the game started to pour down just as the light was coming right. Only one tower of the bridge was lit up and the lights on the first small turret of the Opera house had no lights as well. Plenty of other photogs there did not recognise any faces though. Probably my only chance as I am heading for some R&R at Kiama

Howdy guys - I am from Canberra but will be traveling to Sydney for the day on tuesday. We don't really have any great camera stores in canberra so I was thinking of taking a look in Sydney.

Do any of you have any suggestions for a good camera store in Sydney?

Thanks, Teon.
