MY problem with DVD is that I've got a laptop computer which burns DVDs at 4x speed. It takes about 15-20 mins to burn a DVD, which is fine. However when I want to download these pics from my DVD back to the computer, it takes forever and I mean forever, because I never had the patience to wait for the whole DVD to be downloaded. Well, last time, it took nearly 45mins to download approximately half of the DVD. I am not sure whether this is normal.
I've got a 40GB XDrive 6210 and I will be traveling end of the year for about 3 and half weeks and I know that 40GB is not going to be enough. I am thinking of either replacing the 40GB HDD with 80GB HDD or buying a portable DVD burner to take with me as well.
The pro of a DVD burner is that it is safer, i am not putting all my eggs in one basket. The con is that it may take my whole life to download say 40GB of information into my computer.
Try burning at a slower speed or trying a different brand media. I get these problems if I burn Princo 4x media @ 4x in my LG super multi drive, but TDK 4x media work OK @ 4x for me.

Hey guys/girls,
I had no idea there were this many Australians on this forum!
Im just doing my HSC at the moment so wasnt able to make it out to the last drift event.. but would love to head out the next one.
One event you guys might want to check out is the Australian Bike Show Sydney (push bike) It starts on the 21st Oct. On the 21st there will be a MTB 4x event (pretty much BMX racing but much more exciting with some good contact racing) then on the 22-23rd there will be BMX street, dirt riding and also MTB Trials demo's (I will be there)

Not really a fix... but...
Thanks James... I will give it a try
btw, I have another 70 Sony DVDs to burn...
A guy suggested I should thumbnail all my images before burning, leave the thumbnail files in the computer then just download whatever I want from the DVD
Just a quick one, besides Rose Bay/Double Bay/Elizabeth Bay, where do you think I can find some really stylish/expensive boats/yacht? Need it in urgently for a car commercial~
Always burn CD and DVD Photobackups at the slowest speed and you'll have good copies . BUT buy GOOD quality Media not the Woollies junk.
I actually favour the method my mentor in the states uses and that is 2 different pc HD's in 2 different Geographic locations.
when is the next shoot . you want to try a summer excursion to the mountains while there is still some snow up high and the weather is great.

Thanks guys
We did the Subaru ones at Woolloomooloo but that may be too close to the naval docks.
The new 06 Impreza ones were done at Darling Harbour... I think Kings St wharf might get you some too or at The Spit.
Birkenheads Point is an idea, but I m not sure if you can get the car down to where the yachts are so that you can have car, yacht and say a simple background

Hey, why not?! but what do I tell Nicole? She knew I am going out with you for photos...i smell funny if I go, just say we went to a pub?
Tell her that you're doing some research into the human form... strictly to enhance your photographic creativity.
