Hydro .What part of the track is that ? Is that down into turn nine , from Corporate Hill ?
I was out there on Saturday .I think i've shot from just about everywhere there but i'm not quite sure where that's from ? I found an interesting place for some pans there was at the approach to turn two on the street side of the curcuit in the afternoon the suns at your back and you have plenty of leed time to see them coming .
I know Smellys one is the last turn on to the straight at Wakefield . Its the only decent corner to shoot at . Everywhere else there sucks .
Hey guys the Zoo sounds interesting .I'll post back later in the week and let you know if i can make it .I need to use my 70-200 on something other than cars .
Webcase, actually, I didn't have much time to wander about the track though yes, the last corner of Wakefield was the better one. At the hill climb section would have been another good spot looking down at the right left right corner to the top of the track. I should have drive around there to have a look. I only managed to find up the embankment where I could drive up (thank goodness for 4WD)
depends whats on...... if it's just a drive or ride day you can just rock on in...... but if someone is running a race day you'll prob have to pay.....
Thanks Michael . Makes sense now , .That shadow must be the grandstand .
Smelly .It was free on Saturday but thats a rarity for them . You can take any kind of camera gear you like in there . I think the only time they may get fussy is at the V8 supercar round .Even then i'm not positive about that . Basically you just drive your car in and around the outside of the curcuit to where ever you want to go . Beats walking . They never check your car or question your gear . i'd say 3/4 of the crowd there (if you call about 50 people a crowd ) were photogs .
no limits on gear anytime.... not even for V8's..... speaking of V8's there on next month at oran park 12-14 if anyone is keen....... saturday is good for photo's very busy sun but i'll still be there.......
webcase, Michael, thx... Let me know next time there is another one of those days. Maybe not for the Supertaxi or anything that's a big event but just people zooming about. Any practice is good practice.
I am a definite maybe for the Saturday . No chance on the sunday . I would really like to see the V8s taking that tight corner before the bridge .Nice and close which suits me with only a 200 mm zoom . Was out there a few weeks ago to watch a friend bike racing and the track there in parts looks like there's hardly enough room to get a car around there .
Smelly i think the next sort of photo worthy track meet there will be the Historics in Sept .The V8 supercar round is the only event there that gets busy .All the rest are real easy to get in and out and around . Actually at the V8 round on the Saturday there where people driving there cars to all parts of the track hassle free . Which surprised me as i had parked outside ( D'oh ! ) and was walking all day . The great thing with it is you can take an esky full of food and all the gear you can fit in the car , drive to the corner of your choice and when the sun starts creeping in the way move on to the other side of the track.
Webcase, exactly what I did at Wakefield... just drive up the mounts and keep the camera gear, refreshments and food in the car and get a bit of shade too. I'll go to the Historics.. sounds good!
