Great shots and beautiful country for sure. In the Beagle Channel image there is a blue lake which almost looks like it has been glued to the face of the mountain. It is interesting to look at and I cannot make out how it lays in the mountain terrain. Very interesting shot. Thanks for showing these.

Thank you for the nice comment Dave
It's true that the blue lake looks strange and to be honest, I don't really remember how it looked like in real. I think it has more to do with an optical illusion, maybe induced by the ultra-wide angle and some mix of lighting and colors. But it sure does look like it is patched on the mountain side

Beautiful set of images. I till date miss my Nikon 14-24 lens. The predecessor to all modern day UWA lenses.
Thank you
Yes, the 14-24 is still a gem. Even if I an convinced that more recent lenses may be more perfect, I still keep mine. Pictures coming from it just have a special pop that I like

The only picture that was taken from a plane and through the window is the one from the Aconcagua (during a flight Buenos-Aires to Santiago).
All the other ones were taken from a helicopter. I broke the bank to allow a rental to fly above the southern tip of Patagonia. The hardest was to convince the pilot (and the company) to take one door off during the flight. To avoid the helicopter's skids and blades, I had to lean outside where the very strong winds were posing a real challenge to keep the camera steady. The worst is that I am normally afraid of heights but that fear seems to fade away when I am behind a camera
Here is a pic from the tiny helicopter during the flight. I was sitting behind....Show more →
Fantastic images, and even more thanks for sharing the story and how you got them. That really underscores how important it is to go out of your comfort zone to get great images.
Beautiful shots. I spent a month in Argentina in the oughties, and tell anyone who will listen: it's one of the most varied and beautiful countries I've seen.

Yes I fully agree, Argentina is definitely one of the most beautiful countries. And so is Chile
