Every winter with my friends we shared a short trip in the wild Jura, in this beautiful area lives, wild or forest cat, ermine and the rare bobcat.
This year only Ermine, due to the bad weather, we spend a lot of time along the landscapes with windy and snowy conditions.....hard to stayed immobiles
Here some pictures of this fantastic animal,
C&C are welcome,
Gerard
Ermine are in the weasel family, not a feline. Common in northern areas of Minnesota, Wyoming, Montana, etc.
Very hard to photograph because they are FAST!!! and skittish.

Great shots...this weasel is known as the short tail weasel in N.America (or Stoat in the UK) as opposed to our other weasel, you guessed it, the long tail weasel which is a bit larger. Both get winter coats of white, known as ermine in the fur trade.
Hi my friend, lovely shots of a very elusive subject. it is very difficult to expose white on white, but you did it.
Simply amazing. please stay safe and keep on posting these gems. Voted.
Thank's for watching.

Thank's Gary, appreciate !
Few more pics,
The main difficulty is to be sure that the focus point is on the Ermine and not on the snow on the front, and sometimes the AF is sticky on the black queue,....
Thank's all for your kind comments,
During this trip we hoped to see wild cat or forest cat I don't know if this animal is in US.
This is not a domestic cat, he lives only in forest and mountain, and very rare in France.
Little bit bigger than a domestic one, with always four black rings on the queue and one black line on the back. Mouse is also much square. He is very discret and difficult to observe.
What cool weasels! Great shots or something we rarely ever see. Their coats used to be pretty sought after back in the day...thankfully, no longer.

Those are simply wonderful photos. We had an Ermine in the barn one morning and I cam face to face with him. They are wonderful creatures and you have really captured them.
