Since opportunities to get into the field are diminished (though not totally eliminated) during the pandemic, I have been reviewing my archive of raw files and "discovering" photographs that I originally left behind. This intimate landscape (waterscape?) comes from the spring runoff season along the Merced River in Yosemite Valley a few years ago. (As I worked on it I was reminded of how the dynamic forms of flowing water can reflect the static forms of the surround landscape.)
It does indeed give the impression of glacier formed mountains and valleys. I like the mix of warm and cool colors. I’m glad that you revisited this one.
The bits of warm light are pretty important. I picked the location and framing so that a bit of morning light reflected from canyon walls would complement. the overall cool light on the shaded water.
