p.1 #1 · Vermillion Lake (3rd) - Banff National Park
On Saturday I wanted to try a different spot at Vermillion Lakes. So I went to the 3rd lake to find something different.
The 3rd lake has a natural hot spring feeding into it - keeping it open. But it has a dock that keeps getting in the way of my composition because I don't like man made stuff.

Nice set, but the first one really stands out to me. The shape of the reflected reeds is outstanding. I like the colors in the ice on the right, but might be tempted to crop it out to avoid competing with the reeds. I also like the composition in the last photo, but the fire orange in clouds appear a bit oversaturated to me.

Scott the first one is really elegant IMO. You made the most out of the least and it works for me
Of the few manmade structures piers and docks work for me, so you will have to find a way to make the dock inclusive and overcome you avoiding it
#4 has a lot of vertical depth from the reflection to the sky and the stepped climb up the trees to the mountains and upward................lovely take on the scene.

dallvr: Glad you like 1 and 4. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
zurura: Glad you like the light on 1 and 2. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
JimKied: Glad you like them. Much appreciated. Scott
The Rat: Glad you like the light. Vermillion is very dependable and beautiful light. Just need to remove the docks. Much appreciated. Scott
fotofoow: Glad you like the first 1 colours and shape. I agree either more ice or get rid of the ice.
The clouds were actually that dramatic. I was facing in the other direction after giving up on the light and I turned back and said outlaid - holy cow what colour - and then ran back to the spots I had tried before to get them right.

Karl Witt: Glad you like the first 1 (and 4) . I am more of a big vista guy so it was stepping out for me. Much appreciated. I guess I could embrace the dock. Much appreciated. Scott
philtax: I have looked at the picture upside down and it looks like a mountain with hair. Glad you like 1. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
mdvaden: Banff and particularly Vermillion is well with the visit. And you could go to vermillion 3 or 4 times and still not get everything out of it. Glad you like the pictures. Much appreciated. Scott

For me the second one from Rundle works best. Would have preferred to have the reeds not intersect the reflection. A few steps to the right perhaps? Snow and ice cover look very light this year, I was looking at the temsp and was seeing above freezing in January. One of the forecasts I read suggests VERY cold weather heading that way due to the Polar Vortex escaping its containment and splitting into two pieces, one over Northern Europe and one over Canada.

oadapple: Glad you like 4. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
GroovyGeek: Glad you like 2. Two steps to the right would have been 2 steps into the water and to the left would have picked been blocked by branches. We have had a warm winter so far. Big snow fall right before Christmas and nothing since and relatively warm. Hopefully we get some more snow for my pictures. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
ornate_wrasse: glad you like 4. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
Rajan Parrikar: Glad you like 1. I did add some blue filter because the sky was not blue enough but maybe I should have just painted it in. Thanks for the specific feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
Jim Dockery: glad you like 4,1. It was a great morning. Not too cold, not too hot and nice light. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott

Nice set Scott, I think that's the one I went to the one time I was in Banff a few years ago. 1 and 4 for me too. 1 might benefit from either more ice in the frame or none at all.
