"To find pearls in life’s ocean, we must venture out far past the shore”! ✌
I think the Oregon Coast to be among the very best stretches of 300+ miles for epic seascapes of any place in the world. Not only the icons but hundreds of miles of original work to be acquired for the passionate seascape photographer.
BTW, I'm open to name suggestions for this image (thank you).
Camera Settings:
Sony A7R2
Canon 16-35@ 17mm,
f11,
ISO:
100,
Shutter: 30sec (Hoya ND was used for longer exposure and more movement in the sky)
A single long exposure shot processed in Photoshop's New Ultimate Quality 32-Bit Raw Layers! Message me if you want to know more.
At say 30 inches to 40 inches, what remains of the detail in the tree foliage and branches - and color in the foliage? Does the image hold the same look as the viewing size increases?
Holy moly! A winner amongst your many winners! All elements working in concert - comp, color, motion to create dramatic yet ephemeral scene. Not to mention the superb processing. Again, holy moly!

I believe that's your best Oregon Coast pic yet. . . epic!
Hi David! Yo, serious? Wow, thank you! I have been coming here since about 1995, so it is about time to get good light at this spot! I hope you are doing well and still getting out on your bike! Lets catch up some time.

Amazing photo, I like the pastel tones, which manage to be very vibrant, unusual for such pale tones.
Thank you! I appreciate the astute observations!

Stunning composition with wonderful movement in the water and sky.
Thank you! One point I should make here is that shooting the entire epicenter of sunrise or sunset is always a risk (you just get maybe 1 shot). I just like to do it because I like to experiment, I get bored easy having done this full time for almost 20 years, and I just like different. I like to try to do something less usual. Sometimes it works.

the coast is so beautiful
Yes, we Oregonians (well I now live in Florida, but still do workshops in my native state of Oregon) are very spoiled with grand beauty. The whole state is packed. I also believe almost every mile of the almost 300 miles of coastline (see map) is off the charts photogenic! Most of it people do not stop to explore. Preferring to photograph a few icons here and there.

NICE!!! You are blessed. If I lived in Oregon again, I'd be out here almost every day again!
