I used a one-light strobe setup with a very large octabox attached positioned behind the model, a black flag positioned between the model and the light so that it blocked the light coming from the center of the octabox and only allowed light to come from above and around the sides of the flag (the flag is also the black background), and a large white V-flat positioned behind me to reflect just a little bit of light back onto his silhouette.
Shot using the original Canon 5D with a Canon 85mm f/1.8 lens attached, set to f/6.3, 1/160th sec, ISO 100.
Daniel...the lighting is well done and very dramatic. I like it! The only tiny nit I might have would be the small length of hair showing on his right shoulder.

Very Nice! I love the lighting!. Hope you don't mind but I'm going to try and copy your technique on my next session. Thanks for the lighting diagram, and for sharing your excellent photography skills!
