That makes sense about the wide area (L) with face/eye detect having micro adjustments. I have experienced that second guessing from the eye af as well. I can take a series of pictures of my son where he is not moving, but some are in focus and others are not. It's like the camera cannot confidently stick to one focus.
I'm hoping that the Z9 release will create a trickle down AF firmware update for the mark ii bodies.
I have a lot of Nikon glass and the 50 1.2 is the only one that gives me that issue. They really need to sure up what's going on with the focus acquisition of the Z system. Not everything is going to be perfect and I'm fine with that, but they really do need to make that system a little bit more confident. It's like it shoots for general eye area and as long as you have a deep enough DoF, even 1.8 and 1.4 it's mostly fine, but there's something about 1.2 that drives it a bit crazy. Ludvig83 wrote:

Thanks, I really like the look of this lens. supermario343 wrote:
Great shots Jaded. Still amazes me how sharp this lens is wide open. I have been on the lookout for one for a while now but can't find one
There’s just something about the way this lens renders light that makes it stand out from the rest of the Z lens line up, not including the Noct, which is one of a kind. It makes subjects really pop with great 3 dimensionality.

Damn this thread.....Someone please delete this thread. I do not need this lens, I do not need this lens.
Problem is finding one still I bought one off the Nikon website over the weekend as it supposedly was in stock so we will see what happens *crosses fingers*
Usually if it's on the site then it's in stock they'll probably ship it out in 3-4 business days. supermario343 wrote:

I ordered one too when I saw the in-stock availability. Still waiting on shipment notice. Nikon Store advertises if you order by 3pm then it will ship within Next Business Day but not sure how accurate that is.
No question this is a stellar optic! But to my eyes, there's something a wee bit more special from the 58/1.4, at least when it "works" for the photographer In that same thought, the 105/1.4 is special too. I think it would be really interesting to see direct comparisons from all 3 lenses and the 50/1.8S in a wide open side-by-side shootout

While I'd absolutely agree the 8mm makes a difference, the aberrations render a distinct look to the 58 that nothing else except other similar (older design) lenses come close to.
