No question on voting on this Featured Thread!!!!! Amazing shots! And a nice incentive to hopefully get to Alaska, yes, I know it's Yellowstone, next year!

Nature is the best movie. Dramas play out every day all over world in the animal kingdom.

Alaska is on my (very long) list.

Whenever 791 wandered anywhere even remotely close, 881 would proceed to bury the carcass further.

So how was the rest of the trip?

Great images. I've seen quite a bit of this epic scene, yours are some of the best. Too bad you missed the kill, the video is amazing.

Thanks for the kind words. Witnessing the kill would have been something else. I did not even know it happened when I arrived. By happen stance on the my first morning I went prowling along East Entrance Road at the crack of dawn. With no luck I decided to head back up Heydan Valley where I encountered cars filling up the parking lots at the north end. There was obviously something going on. I found a spot and did not budge all day. Which led to the next day, and the next, and next, ...

Thanks. Yes there were other photographer around. For the first few days, it was THE place to be in the park, with the hard core folks arriving well before sunrise. Given the line-up one would think it was a major sporting event. It thinned out a bit after the first few days but still a lot of people. Not my favorite way to observe wildlife but it was a rare opportunity to stake out a grizzly on his kill from fairly close range with the general protection afforded by the river. The rangers were also great.
