p.1 #1 · Experimental Actor Portraits- Mylar and color gels
Some portraits I took of one of my best friends Kwazee earlier this year. This was an experimental shoot that was inspired by a music video. I built the photo set using two big foam insulation boards connected like a V-flat to make "walls", and attached platinum mylar to them to create the distorted reflections. I used two Neewer C300s for lighting, with color gels placed over the bare bulbs and no additional modifiers. I used my original Canon 5D with a Canon 50mm f/1.4 lens and a Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM Lens.

Excellent! I like how he ponders his distorted reflection.
Thank you. To me it seems to embody a distorted sense of self and reality. My perception of myself is never what others see. IE I may think I'm a good person, but I'm sure there are others who think the opposite. Granted, none of this was conceptualized before or during the shoot. The concept was all aesthetic, and any interpretations I had of the images came afterward.
