Jarquale is an actor that I lived with in a Los Angeles based artist collective last year. I took these portraits of him in downtown LA just for fun, using natural light and a silver reflector made out of a foam board from the dollar tree with tin foil glued to it. Shot using the original Canon 5D.

Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM lens attached, set to f/4.5, 1/100th sec, ISO 500.

Canon 50mm f/1.4 lens attached, set to f/5.6, 1/250th sec, ISO 500.

Canon 50mm f/1.4 lens attached, set to f/5, 1/500th sec, ISO 500.

I love hats on men!!! This gentleman sure wears it well and has its "attitude" tilted correctly!

Thank you so much! Yes he does. His style and personality were big factors as to why I wanted to photograph him.

I just love everything about your first shot. The framing, the attitude in the pose, the lighting. That's a very powerful, compelling image. Very well done !

Thanks! Using a macro lens for portraits really helps me get a lot of detail.
