FWIW, I put one of these on my eBay “ watch” list a couple of days ago (from qycamera) and a day later received an offer of $35 off from them. So, I just ordered one, as I figured buying one and using it myself is the only way I would ever know for sure how good it might be.
The $35 off was good. The expected delivery time ebay gave me after the purchase of Dec 17th was less good. We’ll see.
The most I've been offered was $15 off, but these are from sellers promising a quicker delivery date (late Nov. early Dec.). I'm still on the fence if I should buy one. I also have the Techart adapter for Sony, but the Megadap adapter seems better suited for heavier lenses and can also auto focus longer FLs. The TAP for Sony requires manual focus adjustments for lenses longer than 60mm.

No one get the megadap from their website directly?
It say “ * No warranty service will be provided by us for ANY purchase outside this store.”
Yes, I saw that after ordering from an eBay seller. If the adapter stops working within the 6 months, eBay / PayPal offers a warranty there, I think. After that, I understand that I will have nowhere to go with a dysfunctional adapter. If I had seen the Megadap for sale on their own English language site, I would surely have bought it there.

Hello guys!
Feel free to let us know if you have any questions regarding our Megadap AF adapter. Hope I can offer some help.
My latest test with Zenit 50/3.5. I am a fan of old russian lenses.
Hi, what's your connection to the Megadap? Thanks for offering more details about the adapter! I'd love to see more videos showing AF performance. Also I'd like to see more photos of different lenses being adapted to see if there are any clearance issues regarding M-mount to other mount adapters.
I'm curious as to the longest focal length you can use to achieve focus without having to do manual focus adjustments? For example the Techart for Sony requires manual focus tweaks with 85mm lenses and longer. For the firmware do you have to install the previous versions first or can you install the latest version right away? Also is there any issues using the adapter on a Z5 body compared to a Z6/Z7 and up? Does the adapter work on a Z50 as well? Lastly, is AF performance scalable, like will it focus faster on a Z6II vs a Z6? The Techart adapter became faster for Sony, but with newer bodies focus accuracy also became worst.

I just received my MTZ11 adapter. I did a quick test with the original firmware and then installed the latest (v1.3.1).
With my Nokton 50mm f/1.2 Asph VM set to infinity, the AF adjustment reaches all the way to about 50cm distance, so in practice, it's set it and forget it with a 50mm or shorter focal length.
With longer lenses it's not possible to let the AF do all the work. For example, my 90mm Apo-Summicron-M has a travel distance (between infinity and 1 meter) of about 10mm, so even though 6.5mm is class leading for this kind of AF adapter, some manual adjustment will be needed when going from focusing far to short. At even longer focal lengths, more manual focus adjustments will be needed. This is a limitation that this kind of adapter will have and no surprise. As I said, with wide angles and normal lenses, it's no issue whatsoever.
As to how it works and sounds, noise is fully acceptable to me. AF function (and noise) is far from the level of a native Z lens, but in AF-S it seems to set focus precisely when found. It does seem to hunt now and then in difficult situations and indoor lighting, but I have just received it, so take this for what it is: my very first test with one lens.

Thanks for the info! How's build quality? Also how stable is the moving barrel when zoomed out? I know some people who owned the Techart adapter for Sony had issues with wobble, though I never had any issues. Does the Megadap adapter appear to be sturdier in construction?
I have a Megadap adapter arriving this week. I'm going to use it on a Nikon Z5 and I'll report back once it arrives!

Hey Jon! How are you? We are the distributor of Megadap.
The extended extension allows you to park the focusing ring at the infinity and rely on the Megadap to do all the focusing for you. It actually replaces the focusing distance of the glasses. So it all depends on the optics design of the lens. However, generally speaking, so far i think lenses up to 100mm or below should be good (generally speaking only). I have not tested those huge 300mm or above telephoto lenses though.
The firmware update is really simple. Its like pluggin a USB stick into your computer and paste the firmware file into it.
The adapter is compatible with Z5/Z6/Z7/Z50 and also the gen 2 of Z6/Z7. I dont think it will focus faster on Z6II.

Awesome Lars. I hope you like the adapter. Unfortunately you have got it from a Ebay seller though

I actually contacted Samuel Xia and Gabriel at Gabale on email on October 26th and asked about where they would recommend me to buy the adapter. I never got an answer, so I just bought it from a seller on eBay who has express delivery. Later I found out that it was for sale on their new site (megadap.net). If they had told me, that it would be for sale on their own site, I would have bought it there.

Overall build quality and finish appears to be good. The release button (for M lens) seems to have more friction than it should, but does the job. Regarding how stable it is and if it will wobble, I think it appears very stable, but I can't tell if it will wobble slightly after being used for some time. I just got it, you know , but it does feel very sturdy.

Today I discovered that, while the focal length is saved correctly as promised in the manual, the max aperture is fixed at f/1.4 with a "G" added after it in the EXIF. (This is not what I expected, and not ideal in my opinion. Setting the correct (max) aperture on the camera dial will compensate for it though.) In other words, the adapter seems to "pretend" to be a FTZ adapter with a f/1.4 G type lens mounted on the camera.
As noted, setting the aperture between f/1.4 and f/5.6 will just record this in the EXIF data, but has no impact on exposure or otherwise. Setting the aperture to f/6.3 and smaller will not change focal length in EXIF as long as you don't turn the camera off. This means that we can do an aperture series with correct EXIF data. However, when choosing apertures smaller than f/5.6 the Z camera will assume that it will stop down during exposure, which it can't, so exposure compensation will be needed if aperture priority is used. Using manual will be unproblematic of course.
I have made some more test shots with AF-S on still subjects and with AF-C on moving subjects with subject tracking AF feature. Focus on non-moving subjects seems to be spot on (most of the time). Slow moving subjects are tracked, but focus does hunt easily. A car driving slowly towards the camera had the first series of images in focus, but failed when it came closer. People walking towards the camera, tracked with "subject tracking" feature, was apparently a little more difficult, but I did get some sharp images. If you want stellar focus tracking you don't buy an M lens and the MTZ11 adapter; you buy a Z mount lens for that.

I got mine yesterday and tried it on z6 with firmware v3. First off, the adapter came with firmware version 1.21. In brightly lit room, the focus hunted a lot with frequent short bursts of focus actions. The focus start/stop were so abrupt and it almost felt as if the adapter was being shaken apart.
After upgraded to firmware 1.31 today, I found focus is much smoother, and I no longer feel the abruptness of focus action. Hunting is greatly reduced too.
AF is usable on stationary subject, and the speed is highly dependend on contrast. Even when AF target covers area with strong contrast, focus confirmation may take longer than expected; the adapter may move the lens in focus, and only after a while, the focus box will turn green. Focus accuracy is always good once it's confirmed. There are also instances that the adapter loses focus completely and simply just gave up.
The connection port for firmware upgrade is not covered, which I find weird.
I also have techart's LA-EA7 on Sony A7iii. The focus of LA-EA7 feels more confident, though it could be due to the camera difference as well.

Two updates:
1) The adapter seems to draw a little bit of power when the camera is turned off. If the camera / adapter is not used for a day or two, it's not an issue, but if the camera / adapter is stored for a week or more, I think the drop in battery power will be noticeable.
2) After some messages back and forth between the eBay seller, I have received confirmation that I have 2 years warranty through the seller. In other words, I will have to send the adapter to the seller, if a warranty issue appears, not to the manufacturer directly. This is normal, as far as I know.
