Yeah, if people want to have a controlled test I guess they can go browse the DPR bicycle test for whatever that is worth.
Anyways, my conditions weren't perfectly even throughout the morning so I won't make any conclusions. But had I had more tame weather (instead of 60km/h wind and rain driving sideways at me half the time ) I should have been able to make it work as I did have very repeatable subjects. I had non-stop gulls doing the same thing over and over. But my main subject was the Oystercatchers flying towards me and landing about 20ft away every five mins or so. I basically shot about 10 OC passes with each of my combos today. Today I used Z50/300PF, A7RIV/200-600 and R5/100-500. I also did a very short test at the very end with Z50/500PF. Anytime the OCs weren't flying I just shot gull after gull.
Hopefully either tomorrow or Sunday will bring stable weather conditions as I know the subjects will be there every day doing the same thing.

I'd like to watch this video, but the presenter is unwatchable and unlistenable as well. I lasted four seconds. Can he get someone normal to do it for him?
And his lighting is so unflattering, poor beautiful girl, and my poor eyes

A comparison between A7r iv and R5 regarding still portraits:
The clear winner of this comparison is the new Sigma 85mm DG DN Art lens!
I just sold my 85GM and kept the 85 DN. Fantastic lens for a very good price.
Contrary to BIF people, where other factors are more important (as we often hear things like operation when buffering, cropping etc.) I am very happy with Sony for weddings and the e-shutter performance of the A9/ii is still unmatched and most important for us.
Interestingly, we know many many still switching to Sony as a huge amount of fellow photographers are still using DSLRS (5d3 and 5d4, we see that at our coaching workshops regularly) and the R5 + fast lenses is too expensive for most to switch. The possibility to have such a large native lens selection for Sony wiht Sigma being the most wanted is very intriguing for them. Many used Sigma lenses anyway and simply did a mount change.

I plan to do back to back shooting today between the A7RIV/200-600 and R5/100-500. I'll be sure to keep my thoughts to myself given the response one gets even mentioning another brand on this forum lately.
To the OP....I hope my first post back on page 1 has helped a little bit with your decision. I'll send you a PM with any further thoughts I have after back to back testing over the next three days.
A lot of us me included would be very interested in your findings and thoughts Geoff . Knowing the strength and weaknesses of these cameras is something I’d rather know before buying something no better or worse than I’m currently using . Having started off with Nikon (still got it ) it’s people like you help me decide to try the Sony A9ii 200-600

. I usually skip all the side and promotional talks and advertisements and go straight for the content I care to know. I know he is all over the place but he is one of the few Youtubers whom I find authentic. He offers both positive and negatives sides of the product. I may not agree with everything he says but at least, I know he is presenting his independent thoughts.
Many Youtube reviewers lack the ability of independent and objective analytic thinking. They often come across as paid promoters.

clipped bokeh on that canon lens?
there is much worse than fro on youtube he puts raws out there for people to make up their own minds.
one big problem with fro is that he still doesn't have a clue what sony real-time tracking is, and why it matters.
