If you buy the lens with a firmware that’s not broken, no need to buy a dock.

I just got the 35 f/1.8 and 75 f/1.8 and so far I really like them. They are small and light, but yet great IQ with fast and silent focusing for a very reasonable price. These are perfect when you want to go small.

Aren't Rokinon and Samyang the exact same product made by the same company? Samyang says Made in Korea and Rokinon says Technology by Samyang.
The Samyang is 329 and the Rokinon is 299 from B&H

They are the exact same lens other than the packaging and the name Rokinon. I went for the Rokinon, which cost less at the time. Even when you go to download the dock software, it redirects you to the Samyang website.

Rokinon is an American company that imports and rebrands Samyang lenses. There is no difference in product or support, so get whichever is on sale for cheaper. They seems to take turns going on sale.

Coincidentally (or not), B&H today shows the same price for the Samyang and the Rokinon (both are on their site) $299 so bought the Samyang and base station.

Will be used with my A7C

Hmm not exactly accurate mate. I have the Samyang 85 / 45 / 24 & 18 ... and I don't yet have the dock however all work perfectly fine, straight out of the box, on both my A7rii and A9.

BTW I love all of those lenses however the 24 & 85 are special. And the 45 is incredibly sharp !

You should have made this a Samyang Lens thread

Frogfish: recently, I bought the dock temporarily and updated my 24/2.8. It now focuses to infinity using AF. Earlier (zero FW update) it would not. It was a known issue. No need to put forth alternate facts.

I assume that is a typo and you are talking about the 24/1.8. Mine has no issue focusing to infinity and in fact I can only assume that either you failed to program it correctly or it was not set correctly from the factory. The button can be programmed to any distance, I've programmed mine to other distances and then reset it to infinity .. and I still don't have the dock so have not updated the firmware!

I only own one lens from them and it is the 24/2.8. The dock/update resolved the AF infinity issue. I have no plans to buy their 24/1.8.
