From a recent shoot with Maria. I filled my bicycle trailer with lighting equipment and then we went to a couple of locations in the neighbourhood. At the waterfall, I lit up the water with a blue gelled flash, and used a non gelled one as key light. Mixed in a couple of natural light only shots, too. I used mostly the Canon 1DX2 with the Sigma 105mm f1.4 - my fave portrait combo, with 2 Profoto B1 flashes.
Eyvind, those are wonderful images of a lovely young lady! I love #3, #5 and #6, the last image. Although #1 is also great and I love the setting, but I am not a fan of bluish water tone and the out-of-focus clump of leaves, covering her waist somehow bothers me. Thank you for sharing!
I would, however, reduce my blue channel on the waterfall shots. Water should not actually appear blue in these situations, but can have a very heavy blue cast in the shadows.
I used to get these results often, reducing the blue channel makes a world of difference!
These are all done well, but maybe my taste is the problem here. My comments are mostly about mood.
In #1, I found the background so dark and uninviting, with the model so small in the frame. I know you were showing the waterfall, but that was my impression. I didn't realize it was a waterfall until I read other comments. The foreground OOF leaves detract a lot for me.
The other shots also have dark backgrounds that gave me a night time or foreboding feeling.
I am admiring and enjoying the last one. The pose is good and the soft bright background contrasts with her very well.
Really nice work. There's a lot to like here. Excellent and imaginative lighting ! #3 probably my favourite.
Have to agree about the oof leaves, and #2 is strange to my eye. Almost too much separation, kinda looks like a cutout.
thanks for sharing!
#5 is by far my favorite. Im guessing its the natural lit exposure. Has a cool vibe to it. I also agree with the leaves on #1 covering her waist are distracting. I really like the creative lighting ideas throughout the set. Great job!
