Would have preferred a 100-200 f5.6 that is really sharp to the corners. This lens is really just a kit/travel lenses for lower mp cameras.

I just received a new 70-300mm lens and the focus ring feels fairly grainy. Little random bits of resistance as I turn it. If I hold my ear up I feel like I can just barely hear tiny sounds when it meets the resistance. Is this normal?
In contrast, my Tamron 28-75mm is much smoother all the way around, though when changing direction I feel a very slight resistance. It's of course not nearly as dampened as say my Sony lenses.
