p.1 #1 · Juvenile Black-crowned Night Herons In-flight
There is a pond in the Ramona Grasslands Nature Preserve with a resident family of Black-crowned Night Herons, two adults and two juveniles. The juveniles are quite active and have presented some good photo ops. A few in-flight shots are shown below.
These are also posted in the 200-600 thread in the Sony Forum.

Sweet images, Dave! The red eyes of the heron do stand out. The first image is my pick, BTW.
Joshua
Yes, the red eyes do stand out. Maybe even more so on the adults since they have a white head with black crown.

Your first is a real beauty. So nice when you can see the feather patterns on the back like that.
I like that one too. The bird was close so not much of a crop. The last one is zero crop so there is lots of detail that unfortunately does not come through when it is down res'ed from 24MP to ~2MP.

Hi Dave, lovely shots. I could tell just by looking at them that they were Sony shots.
Thanks KD. I like the A9 for BIF. I thought you are a Canon shooter.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments.
Seems that most people are picking the first one.
I agree, that's why it's first.

I am a canon shooter, but I got the A9 and the 200-600 in December 2019 for the Jan 2020 India trip, however after speaking with Mithesh and Geoff, decided against taking it with me. Still love my canon over Sony for IQ

Hi Dave
Wow as eluded too the first shot is stunning! Nothing wrong with 'chicken legs' #2
#3 seems oddly colored? A bit yellowish and the eyes a bit too dominant?Good undershot on the last, great IF works Dave
