Sony beat SAR by leaking on their own?

The key question of compatibility is not yet addressed by Sony.

I think some people will buy this only for the 135mm F1.8 ZA.

Now we know what else was included in the A7rIV v 1.20 firmware update but not listed or described with that update According to Patrick Murphy video above, LA-EA5 requires latest firmware updates for both A7rIV and A6600.

ILCE-7RM4 System Software (Firmware) Update to version 1.20 (Mac)

"Benefits and Improvements:
Improves the Auto Focus (AF) performance when recording movies with the FE 12-24mm F2.8 GM (SEL1224GM) lens
Improves the overall stability of the camera"

Very cool if it works well for all functions. There's some old A-mount lenses that perform well and are nice and cheap right now.

The list of cameras that this adapter will be compatible with.

The video guy is obliged to promote it. He gets paid for it.

If I get a chance I know I will. That ZA has special rendering.

Not sure whether it is compatible. That lens doesn’t have SSM/SAM motor but a screw drive. I am sure you can manual focus that lens but AF-wise, it may not work... . There is the Sigma, and GM 135mm lens now. Especially, the Sigma for the money, it doesn’t miss a beat.

Edit: okay, the 135mm lens seems to work. Still, I had that lens before and I don’t like the AF noise... it was loud although I do like the rendition though.

ZA 85
ZA 135
Minolta 100 f2
Minolta 200 2.8
Minolta 85 1.4 ltd

All have gorgeous renderings, while I always like the Minolta 80-200 2.8 as well. If this were compatible with my a7r2, I’d pre-order. The a850 was my first FF camera, still love the glass.

I would guess this means no more a-Mount cameras.

I feel extremely vindicated for holding onto my 135 ZA. But also regret selling a few lenses that I should've held onto, like the Sony 50mm 2.8 macro (sold for like $130), and Minolta 135mm f2.8 (sold for about $120).

I am hoping the LA-EA3 and LA-EA4 prices don't bottom out immediately, I own them both and will be selling them both to fund this.

this adapter appears to be largely crippled, people should research it before throwing money at it... i wonder how many of these limitations can be fixed with firmware:

1) no support for older ospdaf bodies like the a7ii?

2) doesn't remove the artificial 3fps af-c limitation on most a7-series bodies? "v. Maximum continuous shooting speed is 10 fps with the Alpha 7R IV, Alpha 9, and Alpha 9 II, and 11 fps with the Alpha 6600."

3) no ospdaf af when shooting video

4) "iv. For AE tracking, the aperture is fixed for the first frame while shutter speed and ISO are used for exposure adjustment"

etc.

I'd expect the LA-EA4 to still be valuable as it is still the only way to get screwdriver AF on older bodies (and right now, on anything other than the A7RIV and A6600, although I do expect firmware for the other Z battery bodies to eventually show up with support).

The LA-EA3 just became less valuable for sure.
