I have photographed these kingfishers 2 times now
I have used a hide and had to wait a number of hours before they came..a very nice bird that is incredibly fast, probably faster ? than the Belted kingfisher that you have in the USA, Common kingfisher is much smaller and lighter, is like a blue spear that is flying in the air
I have use tripod on all shots , also on these other pictures that I posted a while ago here in presentation boards

Unfortunately I never got a chance to try to catch any dives shots, even though it fished a number of times, you get too slow with the camera on a tripod and lying in a hiding place, I was 4-5 meters (16 feet) from the stick
hope there will be more opportunity for some such pictures
