I've not had hardly any time to use these yet but here are just a few shots. I just got the 1.4 X this afternoon so not much time with it at all. I could tell a loss of detail with it vs the bare lens but I have preordered the 100 500 which I hope to use it with alot.
For me the worst thing about this lens is the MFD of 20 feet and for flowers and butterflies that means really drastic crops. The part I really enjoy about it is the weight. It is amazingly light and the IS is just unbelievable. I shot these at 1120 mm and SS of 400. I didn't even work at being steady. I just raised the camera and shot.

The NR looks pretty severe at ISO 3200. Is that a jpeg or is there another reason?

I used the default in Denoise. I am shooting jpgs until the Adobe gets updated to do Raws.

Here is the picture straight out of camera as a jpg. I just cropped it. I hope Adobe gets their software update soon. I much prefer shooting Raw.

Shoot Raw and use the DPP software which will convert to a Tiff than edit in LR or PS. Works fairly well, DPP is not my fav but a work around.

Nice work Kathy!
Another option you have is to use the free Adobe DNG converter. I use that then work on the raw in LR.

Thanks for sharing what this lightweight 1120mm combo can do!!

The 100-500 when you get it will be a much better tool for this type of semi-macro stuff. Put the 1.4TC on that and if you get close to MFD you will have. a lot more magnification to really use the 45MPs.

Pretty impressive overall.
Just looking at the specs on the 100-500, it looks like it has 0.33X magnification at 500, similar to the 100-400 II EF lens. That will be very good for the task at hand as arbitrage mentions.

I would think with extension tubes you could get that down to 12 feet.

It's fun to try these interesting combinations using the Canon mirrorless, combinations in the past that simply would have required manual focusing.

At a sporting event, I dabbled with stacking the 1.4xIII, 2xIII and the 100-400II just to see if the R6 would be able to AF at f13/f14. It did, a bit slowly, and some of the results were decent, but it isn't a combo I would use very often. I am sure with all that glass, the results are subpar to the 800 f11 with a 1.4x too. I might likely end up with the 800mm RF. I see no use for the 600mm RF personally, there are so many ways to get to that focal length now.

Here is a sample shot from that combo, the best from the set, most were lackluster, but I kept them because they were better than anything the parents could capture, and I could still make some sales on those.
