Congratulations to xterra07 for winning Feature Thread of the Week with 7 votes - View Previous Winners
I was moving from my late afternoon spot above to my evening spot, but then the magical light came along when I passed by this spot. The glow was enough for me with the rainbow, but then lightning came as well. A little here and there, very subtle drizzle that lasts sometimes just seconds, barely reaching the ground.
This was my best capture this monsoon season, the lightning schedule doesn't follow best light schedule, and this year the lightning hasn't been as forecasted as in previous years.
This year and last had a lot less flooding and lightning too.
We used to have a whole week with 60% thunderstorms forecast then.
How were your previous years?
Have you tried in Grand Canyon or Lake Powell this year?

I live in the Viewpoint. We had 2 days of a decent rain. One of those days was a hail storm! The Phoenix news stations are calling it the Non-soon season. And no relief from the heat any time soon.

This is only my 2nd year in AZ. Have not tried GC yet - only White Pocket to shoot the comet, which had clouds with nighttime thunder and lightening. Would like to do Big Water but those roads are not rain friendly - and not sure how to do Lake Powell without a boat.

Really like this photo. Particularly, the overall light you caught, and reflected in the foreground, really captures the mood in such conditions; makes the viewer feel as if we're actually there.
