p.1 #1 · A few images from the 4 Pass Loop in Colorado

A couple of weekends ago I went out on a backpacking trip with a couple of friends. The 4 Pass Loop is arguably one of the most scenic hikes in Colorado, so if you don't walk out with a few good shots it's on you. Hopefully I did it justice...

I did a little write up and threw up all the shots, but I'll share a few of my favorites with you folks here.

I like the first shot. Is the vegetation called miners lettuce?

Nice set, my favorite is the last one with the very subtle lighting and nice colors.

I actually don't know! I live outside of Denver and don't think I've ever encountered this stuff on the front range but it was all over this hike. I actually have been meaning to figure it out. Very interesting stuff. It was totally natural but it reminded me of the corn fields of the midwest where I grew up.

Its actually a plant called Veratrum californicum, sometimes also called false hellabore - rather poisonous - so no, not miner lettuce, which is Claytonia perfoliata.

I am not a botanist - just play one on TV
