So just like pretty much every photographer I can think of now, I too went to seek darks skies and shoot the awesome Neowise comet. I've seen (here on this forum) some amazing pictures of this comet, and I wanted to take a shoot at it myself. Just to see it is really a nice experience. The thing won't comeback to the Earth's skies until about 6000 years from now!
I was shooting it from both the Alabama Hills, Sierra Nevada and from the Mono lake area. The Alabama Hills is much better because at Mono Lake you'll get some light pollution from, I think, Lake Tahoe. It's still good but Alabama Hills is just darker since the place is surrounded by the mountains. The comet will be the closest to the Earth between Wednesday and Thursday this week, so if you decide to go, go to Alabama Hills. I can't go on Thursday since I work Friday so I'll drive on Friday afternoon. I don't think the comet will get much smaller in just one day
On Thursday I also visited Eureka Dunes but that was a bit of a suicidal idea. The place is now so hot (I didn't expect that) and it was so difficult to walk around those dunes now.... I took one midday shot and that was it.
At Mono Lake I had a very nice weather and clouds so while waiting for the dark/comet I shot some sunset shots.
The forest I shot on the way to the Mono Lake. I liked these straight pine trees with a nicely illuminated tree trunks and greenish tops. I guess it looked very "healthy" to me
All are nice, but I prefer the Eureka Dunes photo; beautiful rendition. I have to admire you for going there in the summer. I go there often, but would never consider it during the warmer months.

How interesting... I thought this shot will be the least looked at.
Thanks!
The greens against the cyans and color of the trunks are a bit much for me on #2, but that's all just personal preference (as I pretty much always push the boundaries within my editing style). I do really love your editing of the brushwork on it though.
I have always loved and admired your dunes shots, so the photograph and editing of the dunes is my favorite of the lot.
Very nice! I am heading to Yosemite tomorrow for a week. I had decided to remove Mono Lake from my plans but the sunset photo above makes me want to put it back on the list!

Funny, this shot has almost no processing done to it. Very lightly, pretty much contrast, crop, and a tad of color pop. That's it. The raw file looks almost identical to the final shot. I suggest you visit that forest to see how it looks like. The tree trucks are very colorful after sunset or even in midday's shade. And the greens are just like you see on my shot
Sorry to insinuate it was your editing, then! I would love to visit more locations. Having three young boys doesn’t allow me to get out much though

No worries. Just wanted to explain, and tell the whole world the truth
Yeah, with three kids now being at home I perfectly understand. But, if things go back to "normal" and if you get a chance go there, seriously beautiful spot. And you can shoot that forest from the main street, no need for hiking etc.
You and your family stay safe!
