The SN is not blacked out - it's only in the .jpg image. Should you blot out your serial number when selling? That's your call. My assumption is that most people are honest, decent folks, though someone could take your SN and register the camera under their name or report it stolen as the purported owners. I do it for safety and happily reveal the SN to buyers so they can check it against data bases. Since I am the original owner and have documentation, namely receipts, the likelihood of assumed ownership is small, still it is something that I customarily do and you may want to consider.
