Yes it is interesting that with CFExpress that $/GB gets less as you buy larger capacity cards. That usually wasn’t the case with previous card formats. There usually was a sweet spot but it was never at the highest end.
I was very intrigued about the latest Sony A7S3 rumor that says Sony has a card slot that accepts both SD and CFExpress Type A cards ( the smaller format that no one makes yet). Supposedly putting in dual matching slots in the new camera. That to me would be nirvana for card slot config. A lot of choice of speed and cost that the user can choose from. And it should finally eliminate the 2 hr wait to write to the cards on current Sony cameras
Is there a reason why the Sandisk 128gb CFexpress cannot record 8k video? It has 1400/mb write speed... According to Canon website, it is not supported... so that means I need a Sony Tough CFExpress?

It probably does not meet the minimum sustained write speed required for 8k raw. That is the real spec that matters, not what is written on the card. This is the reason that some testing by someone, not necessarily Canon, is needed.

Type A cards use only a single PCIe lane vs. two for the Type B and four for the Type C.
How well the camera and memory cards utilize the theoretical bandwidth is another issue.
Even Type A allows more than double the theoretical bandwidth of UHS II in half-duplex mode.

Think of it like this. You’re traveling on a congested road that has two lanes compared to another road that has a single lane. At a given time, what road can support more traffic? The road with more lanes, right?
Storage performance would be pretty easy to test on a computer.. if you can find a thunderbolt 3 card reader.
But it’s not just a simple factor of camera/bus speed. You also have some software in the equation. At the end of the day I’m not even sure why these two cameras coexist in the same sentence.

Yes Type B is faster, double fast based on the current cards Sony is releasing and the specifications show Max possible is about double.
The beauty of Type A is that it was very unlikely any of the mirrorless manufacturers were going to cram in two Type B slots into one of their smaller MILCs.
Type A gets us speeds that are 2-3x faster than the best UHS-II SD right now in a form factor where we have now seen them put dual slots into a small MILC (and Sony's body is the smallest compared to CaNikon).
The fact that this new slot Sony came up with can also accept UHS-II so no one is forced to buy new expensive cards right out of the gate if they don't want to is even better.
Type A is fast enough for any type of stills photography we have in front of us right now and for a long, long time. If a manufacturer could jam in two CFe B slots then at this point in time I'd opt for that just because Type A card costs are obscene as no one but Sony makes them. But if Type A cards were equal in price to Type B cards, I'd choose this new dual slot for sure as I have a lot of fast UHS-II cards I could use as backups.

Funny, I was actually also thinking in terms of highway roads. and the difference in congestion factors.

For Canon and Nikon next cameras it will be great to use 1 CFExpress Type B + 1 CFexpress Type A/ SDHC ( like new Sony ) * 2 Slots = 3 card formats in one camera
Many of us have already new CFExpress Type B cards and can't imagine they get rid of it

I'd be happy with that. I do like matching slots so my fast slot isn't compromised by the slow one if shooting RAW to both. However, the CFe A slot "downgrade" to the CFe B slot wouldn't be a big deal because the Type A slot is fast enough.
No wanting to beat a dead horse here, but ProGrade Digitial is the only brand of cards I have used for the past two years. Basically since they were founded. I was having an issue with my CFast cards for the 1DX Mark II and called ProGrade's customer support. First - they were in the United States and someone picked up the phone and personalized the call and support with me. Two - they offered a no questions asked replacement card if I just mailed it in. Three - they did some extensive support with me to see what was going on.
Ultimately, I mailed the card in because they wanted to perform testing on it and sent out a brand new card to my door. We ultimately determined that it was not the card, but the reader. So I tested it on both my Lexar reader and the ProGrade reader I bought during this process. The Lexar reader would dive down to below 150MBps while the ProGrade reader would sustain over 500MBps when exporting files.
Their customer support was the best I had ever dealt with in the camera world. I have now spend over $1000 with them on cards with no regrets. The best UHS-II SD cards, CFast cards, and CFExpress Type B 2.0 cards.

Got the Delkin 1TB card today.
Recorded 8K RAW 30fps after using the camera mins before. It recorded 15:47, 287GB, then shutdown. Got heat warning around 13 mins. The camera grip handle does get warm.
After turning it off, then back up, the camera can shoot stills without problem. I did 20 fps, mechanical, 1st curtain electric, no problems.
