Thanks for the reply. I just called Delkin and they said there has only been one firmware for the 128gb card. He said that there has been issues with the higher capacity cards, but the 128gb meets specified ratings.
From experience with other manufacturers, I’ve found that the amount of variability in inquiry responses from support staff is ridiculous. I’ll see what kind of performance I get on the weekend.

The info on the link you provided is consistent with what the Delkin rep told me yesterday- that the 128gb are not affected and only the 256gb+ have issues with the canon. He didn’t get into specifics, but the post in DPR provides the specific error message with the 256gb+ card when used for video.
Has anyone tried the Delkin Black CFExpress cards with the R5 yet? They seem to offer similar performance to the Prograde Cobalt but in more practical capacities and lower prices. I’ve been looking at the Cobalt’s for a bit to improve the buffer capacity on my R5 (currently using Prograde Gold V2 128’s) but I don’t need 325GB and the price is pretty steep, these Delkin’s seem like a solid alternative on paper though.
The Delkin Black is fantastic. No card is faster, but several are about as fast. Not all of the charts in the following review have been updated to have the Delkin Black data, but several have...

I filled a 256GB Black card a couple of times so far. It runs quite cool.
Oh, yeah, I don't know if I mentioned that in the review. The Black card did run cooler. Wise recently released some new cards, not quite as fast but cheaper. They also ran a little cooler. I suspect newer releases generally will be running cooler.
Artsupreme's observation is the one that is probably the most important: the 2TB deal that Delkin sometimes has with its Power line of cards is easily the best bang-for-buck. Sometimes Angelbird has similar deals, and Wise is pretty close too. It's a big difference, being about $0.25 per GB versus around $1 per GB.
I suspect some of those new R3 owners are going to erroneously think their small file sizes will protect them from needing such high capacity. But I found that 30 frames per second is a stiff wind against that. Not that I was filling 2TB cards, but I was eating up 30-40 percent of that over the course of some long day trips, and could imagine needing all of it under certain circumstances.
I've been experimenting with CFE cards since I got my R5.
Transcend 256gb was my 1st entry level, "get one for the camera" card. Capable, but slow. No failures.
NKI 512gb was my next card, better speeds, also began doing some 5-10 second video clips without issue. No failures.
Newest card is the Pergear 512gb and it came with a nice card reader for the same price. Can run 8k, so far so good.
All of these cards have lots of metal so I don't worry about the plastic failing.
I haven't really "tested" the cards.
If someone could direct me to an app or a testing standard I will test these cards for actual read/write speeds
So I bought one of the Delkin Black 128GB cards and comparing it side by side with my Prograde Gold 128GB card I don’t see any difference as far as buffer clearing. Am I missing something or is the amount of data being moved in a single full buffer clear not enough to cause the Prograde Gold card’s write speed to drop? I’ve seen a lot of people talking about sustained write speed for burst shooting and as far as I can tell it seems like a completely pointless spec (and waste of money) unless you’re shooting video. Hoping someone can prove me wrong though and convince me I didn’t waste $200 on a card I didn’t actually need lol

I don't know that anyone claimed that the Black is absolutely better than most other cards other than having reduced power consumption. I don't find it better/faster overall than the Sony cards, which are the gold standard IMO/IME.

the Delkin Black card did about 1 percent better than the ProGrade Gold in terms of frames taken in 30 seconds in mechanical shutter. That's typically a good test for buffer clearing speed, as it's only the first 4-5 seconds where the buffer isn't a limiting factor.
There is (further down in the article) a comparison of full buffer clearing times, and the Prograde Gold card is the worst there, but even that is only 4 seconds different than the best card, and only two seconds different than the Delkin versions tested (the Black wasn't tested as it wasn't available at the time). In other words, you wouldn't often perceive a big difference unless you were filling the buffer completely and waiting the 6-8 seconds urgently needing to take another shot. That'd be the biggest difference.

The difference between Delkin Black and the Prograde Gold cards is that the Delkin Black use less power and run much cooler. It is not that they are dramatically faster in all scenarios. However, since the Delkin Black run much cooler, they are unlikely to throttle (even in stress tests) and most other CFExpress cards will. When you are out on a hot day shooting a lot of photos is when you will see a difference. Not when you’re testing in your room.
Regardless, it’s hardly a waste of money to have an additional 128gb CFExpress card with a lifetime warranty and top tier performance characteristics.
I use the CF express card Anglebird with 2TB. For my imagefilms in 4k and sometimes 8k I need a lot of space. With a speed of 1700MB/s it is very fast. Its not cheap, therefore I have a second one with a smaller capacity only for the worst case (if the big one is damaged).
It looks like they lowered the retail price for the Delkin 2TB from $999 to $899 and the current sale price is $699 instead of $549....still not bad for a 2TB card:
