Joshua, terrific photos of these snow monkeys. I enjoyed hearing about the dominance issues you observed at the hot water pool. These were a treat to behold!
Thank you very much, Shirley!

Fascinating photos Joshua. Wildlife photos are so much better when they show emotion. This sequence has that in spades. The eyes, the demeanor - just on display. Thanks for posting.
I greatly appreciate your kind words, Bob!

I will not stay away from this board for long, promise. Man I missed all these, stupid me. Love each and every one but 4 is my favorite.
Thank you very much, Bibek! Sometimes, it is not a bad idea to take a break... but I am glad that you are back.

Karl, thank you very much! Yes, the snow monkeys alone are worth going to Japan in the winter and I would suggest expanding your trip to include Hokkaido for some eagle actions and then some.
Wonderful post, Joshua! These are such soulful portraits. You've framed them in such an intimate way--with no sign of the "shooting gallery" the place really is (except your behind the scenes picture). Good job managing the setting and getting the details you did.
Kudos for pursuing the atypical perspective--value added for sure.
