p.1 #1 · Options to mount a Sigma 150-600 (Nikon) on Sony E

Hello,

I have a Sigma 150-600 Contemporary lens for Nikon that I would Like to mount on a A6xxx (Sony E Mount) to photograph wild life.
I found that Sigma makes an MC-11 adapter to mount the Canon version of this Sigma lens. Are there any options for mounting the Nikon version on the Sony E mount?
Will Auto focus and aperture control work?

I would appreciate any input you have on this. Thank you.

Aaron

Aaron, this should be posted in the Sony forum, but as far as I know there aren’t adapters with good autofocus for Nikon. Please verify though!

Yes, should be posted on Sony or Nikon forum.

Should NOT be posted on this forum per the Nature & Wildlife Posting Guidelines (top left of this page).

Fred’s guidelines, not mine.

Sorry about the post in this forum. I apologize.
I am trying to see how to delete it, but I am not sure if that is possible.

Aaron,

I had that lens in f mount and put it on my A9 using a commlite adapter and it was a no go

It wouldn’t lock focus...just kept hunting...I think it’s because the aperture is too small. Not enough light.
Mounting My 1.4 and 1.8 primes provided good results.

It appears that I will not be able to make the Sigma 150-600 Nikon version work in the E mount. I probably will have to sell it and get the Canon version or something else. Thanks for your reply.

Have you checked whether Sigma can change the mount on the lens?

Although Sigma offers that service, my understanding is they do the work in Japan. The cost and logistics is not cheap and cumbersome, respectively. I believe the OP will be better off selling the lens and buying a Canon mount to be used using the Sigma MC-11 on his Sony E-mount camera. Better yet, I would suggest the OP to look into getting the Sony G 200-600mm lens after he sold his Nikon-mount lens. You will get a native AF performance with that combo.
