p.1 #1 · 3d Printed lens hood and cap for 400 F2.8 and 600 F4
This is the consolidated thread for the 3d printed lens hoods (as well as anything else I make for these). As I stated when I set out, I'm going to freely share the STL (printable) files with the forum. If you want me to make and prep them for you including flocking and cheap camo decal, PM me and I'll give you the details, otherwise, download the STLs and have fun printing.
I recommend .2mm layer height for all. PETG works best for the hood, but PLA is acceptable.
PLA only for the lens cap, as the flex with PETG doesn't hold tight.
Your printer tolerances will make a huge difference on this. Mine measures to be very accurate, if yours isn't things may be too tight or too loose.
I have also included a rounded 'pad' for the the kirk foot that snaps on between the lens and the foot and makes carrying much nicer. I suspect if RRS ever comes out with a foot it will fit that as well (it fits the 200-600 RRS foot but there isn't enough clearance to use it)
Feel free to reach out with any questions. I had a lot of fun making these, and thank you to @arbitrage and @SoundHound for being guinea pigs.

I'm bumping this up. First, thank you to everyone that has purchased one of these. Hopefully they are working well! I have enough flocking material left for 2 more 80mm hoods. I don't intend on purchasing more as people haven't been requesting these with much frequency any more. If you want one with flocking please PM now, first 2 get it. If not, no worries. I do plan on continuing to make these on request albeit without the flocking. Lens caps will always be available as well (IMO they are the best part)

An old thread and not sure what the level of interest is, but I just got a 3d printer and will give some of these a try. A big thanks for sharing the stl files.

Yes agree 100% This is what public forums (fora) should be about! Folks helping one another at reasonable prices...or sharing advice about how to maximize one's equipment. The posturing and bickering I guess is part of being human...but what BuffaloWolff did with these lens hoods is exceptional. Thank You!
