I really believe that avoiding OSS Mode 1 has made the biggest difference. But sometimes I'm just not sure how I'm getting better results.

For me, I have had 2 copies of the 200-600mm, and the one I have, bought new from B&H's EDU sale for $1600 is super sharp. I think the 200-600 suffers a bit from copy variance.

Thanks for the reply. I’ve been using mode 2 also after seeing Stefano’s video. It seems better but there will still be random shots out of focus in the same burst so I’m still not 100% confident in it. Definitely going to keep working with it until I stumble across a 600/4

I think so too. When the 200-600 first came out and was hard to find, I ended up ordering 2 from amazon (confirmation was delayed on the first order and wasn’t sure it went through). After receiving both, I tested them and one was immediately obviously less sharp than the other. It wasn’t hard to decide which one to send back
