With the waterfowl migration being in full swing a couple of weeks ago and the winds being high I knew that the ducks would be flying. I decided to put on my waders, put the camera on a monopod/gimbal setup and put a Lenscoat "lenshide" over top of me and wade into the water to get close to the birds which really paid off in the end. For much of it I use the Canon R's articulating screen to get a low angle perspective on the action. All taken with the Canon R + 500 F/4 II +1.4xIII.
Wow, Mike, these are superb images! The colors, the composition, the background are excellent. And yes, the low angle adds quite a bit. The first 3 images are my top picks but they are all wonderful.
Sweet set Mike. Excellent images. I appreciate hearing about your methods to get these great low angles. I haven't tried waders and actually going in the water with the ducks but maybe I should. When a Redhead shows up where I live it turns into a spectacle of birders and photographers...feels weird to see them in numbers in their normal range.
Nicely done Mike. The low angle, and the colour of the ducks and background make these super special. I'm not sure I'd trust my inexpensive waders in that cold water.
