some serious line up there mate,
how do you find the 35/1.4? I had no real issues I just found that i always picked up the 40/1.2, I got the 35/1.4 to have a very small combo with the 21/3.5 but in practice the 40 was fine,
If you had to give a % of use between the 40 and the 2 50's how would it be split?

My Voigtlander set for now is the 21/1.4, 50/2, and 110/2.5. I would love a 28-35 to fit in there that renders similarly--it really seems like this is a major gap for Sony mount. The 40 feels too close to 50, though I will likely pick up the 40/1.2 at some point. I would enjoy a fast 75 too.

The Camera Store in Calgary has a small supply of them at times.

Does anybody know why CV lenses are hard to find and get Canada? Very few retailers here have them and are usually out of stock and B&H won't ship them here. Perplexing. I'd like to get some.

My Voigtlander e-mount lenses so far are:

The CV 15mm: I get superb results with this lens for landscapes, and real estate. Small in size, and a joy to shoot.

The CV 40mm 1.2: One of my walk around favorites. So flexible, with good sharpness, amazing colors, and unique rendering. I look for excuses to shoot with it these days.

I would look for something in between, but my kit is full in those FL between my zooms, and my Batis lenses. Manual focus can be fun to shoot, but so often walking around I am lazy and just want a high quality AF lens.

You can usually get them at Downtown Camera in Toronto, but if you want to get them from B & H or Cameraquest you can always ship them to someone you know in the states and have them bring them or send them to you in Canada. Not an option right now, but when life returns to normal it is an option for a lot of people. I often go to the states so it is easy for me, but realize it isn't for everyone.

Or you can have them sent to a shipping depot (like CBI USA) (that one is just across the border in Niagara USA). Then you just drive across and pick it up - CBI will charge 5 or 6 dollars for pickup. It is duty free so you will only have to pay sales tax when re-entering Canada. If you stay in the U.S. for 48 hours you will save tax on $800 of the item. This is of course not an option at the moment with the borders closed and social-distancing but it will be again eventually.

CV could develop a range of f/2 APO lenses, starting with the 50/2 and the 65/2 Macro. I'd love to get an 85mm, and I imagine others would be keen on a 35mm.

Brings to mind the Leica Summicron range, but on our Sony E mount without adapters

Great thread! Enjoy reading the comments and seeing who has what and how they are using it. So easy to fall in love with Voigtländer these days both E-Mounter and M-Mounter. Just to contribute but nowhere near the Voigtländer aficionados on this thread. My current few:

E-Mount: 65/2--IQ reference lens IMO, loved my time with this lens but will probably sell soon
M-Mount 75/1,5 -- Talk about a "cool" lens This is it. Super cool on the M10 Rangefinder. Too much fun wide open. Obrigado 😉

I very much enjoyed my time with the 35 F1,2 VM ver II, but no longer own. Very curious to see how the new 35 1,2 VM III performs. If you have samples please post.

Well I've found the thread for my people... After spending far to long lurking here, I sold off all my AF lenses last year and now I'm all in MF Voigtlander, and have just the 21mm 1.4, 40mm 1.2 and the 110 2.5.

21mm 1.4: Initially this seemed like an easy lens to get good results from, but lately I'm been struggling with it. When you get it right it's brilliant, but you have to work at it, tripod, filters etc.

40mm 1.2: lives up to the hype for me, there's just something magic about the images when you get it right. I hired an A9 + 70-200GM for a wedding last year, but the shots that really stand out from that event are the ones taken with the 40mm. Both wide open, and stopped down it has totally different characters, but I love both of them.

110mm 2.5: I love focusing this all the way to 1:1 and then chasing bugs in gardens. I don't get a high keeper rate, but the ones that I nail focus on can be quite special. It's also amazing for lansdscapes and serviceable for portrait.

Like others are saying we need something faster in the traditional short portrait range. The 110 works, but I'd love something that can blow the background away more.

Pretty fantastic dual kit Juha! I think you may be the only one I know of working with the Sigma fp with these lenses (very cool)!

Are you already posting first impressions of the 35/1.2 III somewhere?

Thanks very much! I think in Japan quite many owners of Sigma fp are using it with adapted rangefinder lenses from what I've seen. It's a nice small combo with some small RF glass and so far there is only 1 native L-mount lens that's small enough. It's not so common camera in the market though, more like a niche product.

I posted a little bit about my 35/1.2 III in this thread so far: https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1639692/2#15181815. Waiting for some nicer weather to get more shots as this weekend the weather has been quite poor here in Tokyo and it was recommended that people stay home as much as possible during the weekend due to the increasing virus spread here. Today it snowed a lot which is surprising for this time of the year...

Thanks!

I think the size and weight of the 35/1.4 is about perfect whereas 40/1.2 is a little bit bigger and heavier than I'd like. Quite often I prefer to go out with a lighter kit and the 35/1.4 has it's own unique and quirky wide open rendering. It's also fine for infinity shots when stopped down sufficiently (I think it becomes optimal at f8). On the other hand the 40/1.2 has it's own smooth wide open rendering and it gets better for infinity shots at wider apertures, e.g. perfect already at around f4-5.6. I've been using both of them about equally much.

Between 40/1.2, 50/1.2 and 50/2 it's hard to specify a usage % value. I've used 40/1.2 over a much longer period since I got it when it was first released 2.5 years ago, but after I got the 50/1.2 about 13 months ago it has been getting more use than the 40. 50/2 is still quite new and I've used it more than the other 2 in the last 3.5 months I've had it, but I can't say that I prefer it over the Noktons so far. 50/2 is the best when it comes to size, weight and handling, but I may prefer the dual rendering character of the Noktons to the more neutral but better corrected APO-Lanthar. Still haven't come to a conclusion about which one I really prefer, need more time to figure that out

The Voigtlander 12/5.6, 21/1.4 and 40/1.2 are my favorites. The 12/5.6 for it's great colors, flare resistance, and sunstars. I have a great copy of the Sony 12-24 that is sharper in the extreme corners, but lacks the great rendering of the Voigtlander. The 21/1.4 has the IQ of the Loxia; more speed, and much preferred rendering, than the Sony 20. I keep telling myself I am going to sell the 40/1.2 because I dont like the focal length (which is more like 42mm) , and would prefer a 35mm lens. Yet, the 40/1.2 makes images with exceptional rendering that speak to me the more I use it, and I am beginning to like the focal length. And 12-21-42mm make for a nice 3 lens manual focus kit.

An example of the phenomenon where a great lens overcomes focal length preference. Can't be too dogmatic.

You might try the new CV 35 1.2. It's quite similar to the 40 1.2 in rendering, IQ and haptics. The CV 35 1.2 thread might help you.

I expect/hope it will get more populated and more FM'ers get their 35 1.2 copies.

I only have LTM voigtlanders:
Voigtlander Heliar ASPH 4,5/15mm
Voigtlander Snapshot-Skopar 25mm F4
Voigtlander Ultron VM ASPH 1.7/35mm, Not far short of the weight of the other two.

I have not used them on the techart adapter for a while.
