Not quite sure what to make of the wide open empty space on the right side of the image. If there was more light there I can see it working. As things stand now my eyes lock on the formations on the left and the right side becomes completely superfluous. IMO a gradient of light coming from there will singificantly add to the impact of the image.

I love the color rendition!
I also did photograph the same scene a few years ago, but the background was not pretty.
