I just returned from a wonderful week in Chile and the now famous pumas of the Torres del Paine National Park. Watch the BBC episode of Seven Worlds, One Planet, the South America episode to see the famous cat family hunting guanacos. These are the same cats I photographed. We had a great week with some incredible sightings; all on foot and some at very close range. Also it was reinforced on us, the benefit of having the top guide and tracker with us. Without them our experience would not have been as productive.
As everyone is forced to limit their travels due to Covid-19, I hope these photos will brighten your day just a bit.
Don
Does anyone know this guy who photo-bombed my award winning photo? There is a reward being offered.
A majestic pose. Sarmiento, the mother cat and star of the 7 Worlds, S.A. episode.
Wonderful photographs!!
The light is superb. The last one certainly is very cute.
I can't claim the reward, but I suspect you already know the ID of the photo bomber. Regardless, he looks a bit too close to the puma. Who wouldn't have a big smile when having an experience like that? What a picture!
Thanks for sharing these great images. It inspires me to get to Chile.
YGMV.
Wow, a fabulous set of photos, Don.
I liked the second and the fourth for that amazing light and the moments you captured; but I especially loved the story-telling element of the first one. I love how the majestic cat is totally not concerned with the presence of that photographer, and how that photographer also seems to be comfortable in the close proximity of that predator.
If I had to pick a favourite, it would be the first one, hands down. In my opinion, it IS an award-winning photo!
Keep up the good work.
These are majestic, you got my vote. The light was well captured and nice job preserving it in post. Really gorgeous captures with an overall warming feeling
