Stunning set!
Sadly, had an Anna's male acting lethargic at our feeders t'other day. Didn't see him perched on the back of one of them when unhooking it for a refill and nearly got him along with the feeder as he slowly flew off, crash landing on the lawn. Refilled the feeder and walked out onto the lawn to refuel him, coaxing him onto the feeder's perch and rehanging the feeder with him along for the ride. Didn't see him on the feeder later that evening but found him on the grass under it. Gently scooped him up, swaddled him in a wool ankle sock placed in a small bowl. He was in sad shape with closed eyes but his tongue was busy sipping some of the syrup from a teaspoon each time I gingerly brought it to his beak. After about 10 minutes of TLC, his facial plumage lifted and settled several times and his head just slowly listed to port as he breathed his last. My love and I thanked him for brightening our winter days and buried him the following morning under the big birch tree where his brothers and sisters watch over us....
