Just wanna chime in that this is probably the best lens I've ever used—so good in fact, that I've been trying to shoot UWA in situations where I wouldn't normally consider it. I think if we're considering how a lens shoots, what it can shoot, and how the output image looks the only aspect I'd put it behind anything would be color rendition: don't know if the camera just has a harder time properly metering for the field of view or if it's something with the glass, but I normally have to push the color a bit more than I would another lens. And that's it—literally everything else is better than any lens I've put my hands on, though I don't have the means of some on this sub.
Really makes me want a full line of 1.8 Gs, but that won't happen for ~7-12 years probably .
I just received mine yesterday at the sale price. It's a sweet little lens, and at $798 the price is more in line with what it should cost. From my brief testing it will give the 24mm GM a run for its money. I'm glad to see Sony and other lens manufacturers building a suite of smaller, high quality optics at F/1.8. Now all they need is a FE 16mm/1.8 lens.

I got this lens when I first switched to Sony from Nikon. I opted for 20 over 24 because it was lighter, paired better with my mid-range zoom, Tamron/28-75, and cheaper (win, win, win scenario). Since then I completely changed my plan (who doesn't on this forum) and now I am mainly sticking with smaller and lighter primes. My one physical rule for any lens is that it must be under 1 lb. Sony 24 GM is the only GM lens that fits my criteria. With recent "rendering, aka wallet danger zone" threads on this forum, I was really tempted to swap 20 with 24, but I wasn't just feeling it, so I took the lens out this weekend and started shooting... Wow! What a fantastic little gem this lens is. Almost no distortion, sharp, lightweight, and beautiful rendering. I love the exaggerated perspective this lens provides while still keeping things normal-ish. If you are having second thoughts about this lens, you are not getting close enough to your subject.
It immediately killed my urge to acquire the 24 GM. Not saying I won't get 24 GM at some point (I need more self control), but 20 G is certainly one of the best, if not the best, lenses in my kit. I highly recommend it.

I had the 24mm GM but sold it once I got the 20mm 1.8. The GM was great but I like using 20mm vs 24mm. For the money the 20mm is fantastic in my opinion.

Got mine for ~750$ (with cashback subtracted), great value indeed!
Don't know about other copies, but while mine isn't very sharp at F1.8 at the edges (only from F2.8 it is sharp), it is basically apochromatic. I haven't seen any traces of CA in all my test shots, even in challenging conditions such as snowy landscapes.
? Ah, you meant $100 off. That makes more sense
