I have never met a braver person than those kids.
They where introduce to me by a group of volunteer that would school them twice a week and provide basic medical care to them.

That bottle still had water in it. As soon as she picked up someone told her it was his bottle but she could have it. She drank the whole bottle in one sip...
Please post more! I am 72. When I was a young I too collected bottles and old newspapers for some pocket change. There was no recycling back then but bottles and newspaper was recycled.

During that trip I visited many market, ports and factory's. I could tell that it was like travelling back in time... I am no historian but this is how I envision the industrial revolution we had(I know it's a totally different era than yours don't worry)
The way they would work using man power instead of machines. They would recycle everything they could and reuse item as many times as possible... Where in north america today single use item and robotisation of work is king.
Ill share some more series to explain what I am saying.
