Congratulations to AGeoJO for winning Feature Thread of the Week with 2 votes - View Previous Winners
These are my first two images from the first morning of the Mask Carnival 2020 in Venice... It is going on now for about 10 days.
For both a remotely triggered flash was placed behind the person wearing the mask; on the second image, the model was holding a mirror that reflected sunlight on her face.
Thank you for stopping by and please feel free to leave any feedback.
Joshua
Edit - for whatever reasons there were some artifacts on the upper right hand sky portion of the original image. It was brought to my attention later. I had to edit that away and this post now has the edited first image. Sorry and thank you.
Hey Joshua.......off to a great start!
For me the back flash is a bit too strong more so on #1, I do like the reflected light into the face on #2 and how it brought out some warm tones on the mask, flash highlights look nicer here too IMO.
I am looking forward to seeing a bunch more buddy Have fun......

Karl, thank you very much! I toned down the flash in other cases already. I still could do so in PP, too but those 2 were already posted and I don’t want to do that with my MBP. Yes, I will post more in due times.

Stunning mask photo and tack sharp wide open. This mask is so elaborate.
Thank you very much, Dennis! Yes, some masks are very elaborate. Some folks make the costumes themselves and it will take them from design to finish practically one full year. So, when they get back home after this event, they will work on the next costume/mask for the following year.

Darn fine images Joshua!!!! Unique, colorful, and I find the lighting in #1 different and provides a different accent on the mask. Great job!

Thank you very much, Dan! I am flattered you like’m.
I agree Roberta! I gave up when the people were flashing me hand signs after shooting their photo and then telling me to "read between the lines, aka fingers" ... I gave up!!

Thank you very much, KD! I took those images 2 weeks ago and left Italy a week ago although I didn’t make it back home last Friday. Yes, I am fine; thanks again.
