p.1 #1 · Cheetah/Leopard Fight - Mara North, Kenya
We were privileged to see a very rare encounter, where three cheetahs confronted a leopard for territory. The leopard was in a tree when the cheetahs arrived on scene and decided he didn't want them there, so he climbed down and they proceeded to scream at each other.
The three cheetahs surrounded him and made aggressive moves, but no one ultimately made contact and the leopard skulked into the bushes and escaped. All the while I was shooting this I was muttering "Oh my god, oh my god...." hoping the leopard wouldn't kill the cheetahs.
In ten safari trips (and for our guide with 12 years' experience) we had never seen anything like this!
For those tracking the cheetahs, these were Amani's cubs which are now about 2 years old and on their own.

Wow Bob this is an amazing experience. Especially to think these are the cubs we saw around Amani just over a year ago. So we have another coalition building. Will be interesting to see how it goes with the 5 musketeers.

There were either two males and a female or vice versa, the males may form a coalition but the female will separate soon. I thought of you when I heard they were Amani's cubs!
