I went back to the location of the mergansers where a male had a fierce battle with a huge crayfish 4 ago. They are still around but this time around they were being lazy most of the time. For over 2 hours, except for a single occasion in the shaded area at the very far end, they didn't do much in terms of searching for their favorite food. However they did a lot of preening and bathing. And here are a few images from during some routines of the "ladies" there. FYI, they were 6-7 female hooded mergansers and these images are not from the same "lady".
Thank you for stopping by and please feel free to leave any feedback.
Totally agree with Mike's statement " Wow! Josh that A7r4 and 600 is a killer and so is the guy using it. Great job. "
Great set Joshua. I thought I could pick favorites , but every image I scrolled to was a favorite.
1. You nailed focus on the eye to get it so sharp with that head shake . Well done.
2. Love the tones and pose you got with this lady.
3. One is immediately drawn to her gorgeous eye, then the detail in those feathers.
4. What a fun shot !
5. Gorgeous reflection and light.

Birdie, my sincere appreciation for your kind words and thank you for your vote but I am not even considering that with those images. On the first image, the beak and the head was still enough for the 1/1000 sec to freeze the motion completely but the end of her feathers further back shows movement. Thanks again!
