Remote section of the Virgin River, just outside the National Park.
I didn't see another soul from sunrise to sunset.
My new favorite place to visit in Southwest Utah.

Wonderful series, Gordon. You have really been on a roll the past year or so, hiking some of the most dramatic canyons. Way to go!

@Oosty: some areas of the canyon would be definitely life-threatening in a downpour.
It had rained a couple days earlier and this drainage for this river goes a hundred miles into Central Utah so I worried about the water clarity. I was delighted to find it crystal clear when I reached the river!

Hi Stan,

You are very observant. 2019 was a strong year for my landscape photography with some great locations. The biggest was the Grand Canyon, but I also knocked on the doors of the Subway, surfed the Wave and saw Parunuweap. Gunlock waterfalls were flowing (first time in 7 years) and I made some other less renowned hikes too. I love getting out of town and into the wild indeed! I can only hope 2020 is as good to me.

Some others has asked about access to this area. I do have one photo of the southeast part where I started my journey. It's north of Pipe Springs at the end of many unnamed dirt roads. The sun rises on this eastern part of Zion and the canyon below is where Parunuweap hides.
